It's been nearly 20 years since David and Ginger have played at the historic fort. So join us for this lovely evening and experience the sounds of the 18th Century! The doors to the fort open at 6 pm.
During this free event, enjoy a spirited performance of music of the colonial and Revolutionary, and Federal periods as David and Ginger Hildebrand, nationally renowned specialists in early American music, have selected music chiefly from 18th-century sources.
You'll experience songs heard at taverns and county fairs, military ballads, theatre songs and tunes to which locals danced. The Hildebrands' music is arranged for voices, harpsichord, violin, English guitar, Spanish guitar and hammered dulcimer. This program concerns some of the important events, themes and famous people of Revolutionary America. Washington, Franklin, Hamilton, and their military and political activities all figure in.
This evening features story-telling in addition to period music, illustrating how music Americans fought on both sides – for and against independence – leaving a rich cultural legacy for us now, nearly 250 years later.
