“I Got Rhythm” - The Music of Gershwin and Redman Appalachian Chamber Mustic Festival Concert

Partner Event
August 7 - 7, 2026 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT

Harpers Ferry, WV 25425

As the nation marks 250 years of American independence, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and the Appalachian Chamber Music Festival invite the public to enjoy an evening of quintessential American music. The Howard Burns Quartet will join the chamber musicians for a lively blend of jazz and strings on the Storer College lawn.

The program will feature “I Got Rhythm” and other George Gershwin classics through Don Redman’s eyes. Redman’s pioneering swing arrangements and Gershwin’s masterful fusion of classical and jazz traditions together reflect two essential forces in American music history.

Concert goers are encouraged to RSVP for the concert in advance to receive updates about schedule changes and available services. General parking is available in the old Shipley School lot on Fillmore Street. Accessible parking is at 51 Mather Place.

This concert is sponsored by the Appalachian Chamber Music Festival, the Harpers Ferry Park Association, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, and the Corporation of Harpers Ferry.
