Join the National Park Service (NPS) at the 4th Annual History at Sunset series at Camp Nelson National Monument! The 2025 Lineup features special programs which mark the 160th Anniversary of Camp Nelson in 1865. The series features 3 programs (May-July) starting at 7:00 pm at the park and are free and open to the public.
Friday, July 25, 2025: Camp Nelson Then & Now Photography Tour
The 160th Anniversary of Camp Nelson commences with a special guided tour featuring Civil War photography. The U.S. Army captured over 40 images of Camp Nelson, including dozens of buildings, military supplies, roads, and earthworks, and soldiers, civilians, and refugees.
The hike will be conducted on paved and grass paths and will involve moderate inclines. Participants should wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water.
