Partner Event
July 27, 2024 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT

Town of Saratoga Town Hall
12 Spring St
Schuylerville, NY 12871

Inspired by the ideals of the American Revolution and the sacrifices of Black men in the Continental Army, Douglass argued for the creation of the United States Colored Troops during the Civil War. After the war, he continued advocating for the expanded idea of democracy. One place he did that was in Schuylerville, NY, on June 8, 1849.

Come hear poet, author and historian Nathan Richardson perform as Frederick Douglass and learn his thoughts on democracy.
