Please join us for this Civil War educational caravan driving tour – “Hidden in Plain Sight” – and visit unique sights that you probably have never noticed before within the Eastern Front of Petersburg National Battlefield.
David Lowe, Phil Shiman, and Julia Steele, who call themselves “The Petersburg Project”, have been researching, studying, revealing, and verifying unique features and sites of the Petersburg Campaign for over 20 years. Petersburg Project will be utilizing Civil War era photographs, Maps, and other items to give us new insights and perspectives for various sites we will visit within the Eastern Front of Petersburg National Battlefield. The caravan tour will include stops at Battery Five, the Jordan House plateau, the site of the Friend house, “Fort Shiman”, Confederate Batteries 9 and 10 of the Dimmock Line, Hare House Hill, Fort Stedman and three-photo panorama, tunnel entrance in Colquitt’s Salient, bombproofs in rear of Fort Haskell, newly identified photos of Fort Morton, and the Covered Way that led to the Crater.
You’ve never seen the Eastern Front like this before, you will not want to miss this unique tour! Water and Snacks will be provided during the tour.
