Dogan House Open

Join park volunteers at the Dogan House, one of three witness structures left in the park. In 1861 and 1862, Lucinda Dogan was a widow who showed kindness to soldiers on both sides of the war. Some of the wounded New Yorkers that fought near her house came to know her as the "Belle of the Battlefield" due to her extraordinary kindness and willingness to help. 

In honor of Juneteenth, volunteers will be on hand to tell the story of Mrs. Dogan and her children, and the role they played in the small community of Groveton.
