Blacksmith Shop Open

Join Matt Walker as he demonstrates the craft of blacksmithing throughout the day at the site of Andrew Redman's blacksmith shop. Andrew Redman was a enslaved worker on the plantation of William Lewis, the father of Lucinda Dogan (whose house will also be open on June 19th) and earned his freedom with the introduction of the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. Head to the blacksmith shop to learn more about Redman's life in the community of Groveton and participate in a special children's craft!
