Battlefield Tour

Join the Buffington Island Battlefield Preservation Foundation for a full blown tour of the battlefield! This tour is led by noted author David Mowery, whose book on the Indiana-Ohio Raid is the modern standard. We will meet at the Memorial Park at 10:00 am then carpool to the various stops scattered throughout the Portland Bottoms. At noon we will break for lunch, and then resume the tour in the afternoon. If you have never toured the battlefield, or have been on one of our pop-up tours, this tour is more comprehensive and has additional stops, some on private property, than the pop-up tours. We advise bringing a pack lunch. Note that the park has limited facilities (no running water and primitive restrooms) so pack what you will need for the day. Wear clothing suitable for the weather, and shoes suitable for walking at the last stop. The tour is free, but donations to the Foundation are welcomed.
