Please join us for this Civil War educational caravan driving tour about the “The Battle of Peebles’ Farm” on September 30, 1864.  This tour will include stops at vulnerable Fort Dushane and hallowed grounds at National Park Service, American Battlefield Trust, and private sites.  Water and snacks will be provided during the tour; an optional lunch at a local restaurant will follow the tour (pay for your own meal).

General Robert E. Lee takes the tremendous gamble of stripping away three divisions of infantry from the defenses of Petersburg, sending them north of the James River in an attempt to retake Fort Harrison in the outer defenses of Richmond. Grant’s Federals had captured Fort Harrison on the morning of September 29, 1864 in the opening salvo of the Fifth Offensive. Pressing this advantage, Grant orders General Meade and the Army of the Potomac’s 5th and 9th Corps to strike for the Boydton Plank Road southwest of the City of Petersburg. Union soldiers burst forward on September 30th setting off the Battle of Peebles’ Farm. You will not want to miss this unique tour!

Tour tickets will go on sale in October for $30 per person via Eventbrite at petebattlefields.org
