Battle of Harpers Ferry: A Terrible Engagement of Small Arms - The Fight for Maryland Heights

This strenuous hike on Maryland Heights will go all the way up to the Stone Fort overlook, following in the footsteps of US soldiers as they rushed to defend Maryland Heights during the Battle of Harpers Ferry on Sept. 13, 1862. The guided portion of the hike will be three miles long and will end at the Stone Fort. Visitors may choose to rest there, go to the Maryland Heights Overlook Cliff, or return straight back to the trailhead. The total trail length is a minimum of 6 miles. Please wear good hiking boots and bring plenty of water and snacks. A hat or other sun protection is also recommended.
