Doors open at 6:45 PM for seating | Talk starts promptly at 7:00 PM Dr. Woody Holton, Professor of History at University of South Carolina, joins us to talk about his book Abigail Adams, winner of the 2010 Bancroft Prize, among the most prestigious awards in the field of American history writing. Holton is the son of former Virginia Governor Linwood Holton. He earned a B.A. in English at the University of Virginia in 1981 and his Ph.D. in history from Duke University in 1990. His sister, former Virginia First Lady Anne Holton, will introduce Dr. Holton. She is the wife of U.S. Senator and former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, the Democratic Party nominee for vice president in 2016. She is past interim President at George Mason University and is past Virginia Secretary of Education.
