Virginia was a leading state in the fight for independence during the American Revolution. From Richard Henry Lee's resolution in Congress calling for independence, to Virginia signers, Virginian soldiers in Washington's army and the homefront supporting (or debating) the war effort, the Old Dominion made revolutionary history, especially in 1776.
Join the American Battlefield Trust in partnership with Rippon Lodge Historic Site for an inspiring afternoon of family-friendly activities. Commemorate the 250th anniversary of 1776 and the United States' road to independence with learning and hands-on experiences. Generations Events are designed to help adults share their passion for the history with the next generation so bring your kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews or young friends!
Rippon Lodge, built in 1747 is one of the oldest homes in Prince William County, and during the 1770s was owned by Thomas Blackburn, a member of the local militia. So you'll explore revolutionary history at a location that has its own historic story.
