Join us July 11-14, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana, for the 2024 National Teacher Institute!

Our theme is "How the Leaders of the Past Shape the Leaders of Tomorrow."

Our annual National Teacher Institute brings together educators from all over the world. This three-and-a-half-day event includes breakout sessions, workshops, lectures, and tours from some of the leading experts in the history and education fields.
 
Educators will be immersed in a friendly, fun, and engaging learning environment where they can network with other educators and learn more about the historical topics they teach in their classrooms while acquiring new and innovative teaching methods. Our National Teacher Institute is more than just methodology; it's about making you a better, more well-rounded educator. We hope you will leave the Institute with a better understanding of your subject matter, a passion for history education, and lifelong friendships.
 
For the first time, we are happy to announce the addition of add-on tour options. These add-on options allow you to go beyond the traditional workshop and behind the scenes at some world-class museums. Add-on tour options are paid for by the participant and are not part of your deposit and are non-refundable after the event. 
 
This event is free to active educators, but requires a $175 refundable deposit to reserve your spot. Space is limited. At the conclusion of the event, educators can apply for continuing education certificates provided by St. Bonaventure University and paid for by the American Battlefield Trust and can request a refund of their deposit if they attended the event.

Tour sites include: Chalmette Battlefield, Confederate Memorial Hall Museum, the French Quarter, the National World War II Museum, the Cabildo, Metairie Cemetery, and more. 

Who Can Attend

This event is primarily intended for active K-12 educators and administrators, but we also allow the following professionals to attend:

  • Full-time K-12 educators and administrators (this does not include retired educators).
  • Full-time Museum professionals (this does not include museum volunteers).
  • Full-time Librarians.
  • Adjunct and full-time college professors & administrators.
