Hike the Mine Run Battlefield on Saturday, October 10

It’s one of the most overlooked battles of the American Civil War, taking place after the monumental Gettysburg Campaign and prior to Ulysses S. Grant’s ascension to overall Union command, the Battle of Mine Run essentially marked the end of George G. Meade’s tenure as the independent commander of the Army of the Potomac. In the months that followed, Grant came east, and Meade became an afterthought to many in the north. On May 2, join author and historian Chris Mackowski and American Battlefield Trust education manager Kristopher White for a tour of this forgotten battlefield, that Trust members helped to save and bring back to life.

This tour will be held rain or shine. Please wear appropriate footwear and expect two miles of walking along paths and uneven terrain. Meet at the American Battlefield Trust Mine Run parking area at 31391 Zoar Road Mine Run, VA. 2258.

If you are not already a Quartermaster or above member, you can sign up or renew today, then RSVP for this tour. Please note that these tours are in the "pop-up" style and will not include transportation. Please bring your own meals, snacks, water, sunscreen and bug spray as needed.
