Join Russell Shorto, best-selling author and a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine, will present Revolution Song: A Story of American Freedom to illustrate how our revolutionary past can redefine the meaning of liberty in our contemporary society through the lens of six fascinating characters: George Washington, Lord George Germain, Kayéthwahkeh, known to Americans as Cornplanter, Margaret Coghlan, Abraham Yates, and Broteer Furro, also known as Venture Smith. Combining a diverse cast of voices, Shorto will discuss how the perils and promises of freedom were understood by different men and women, depending on who they were and what they envisioned a free society to be.
