April 4, 2020

A note for Park Day 2020 participants,  as the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to affect communities, please note that Park Day events may be canceled or rescheduled from the original April 4th date. We will continue to update our website as we receive information from individual sites. Please contact your Park Day site supervisor directly for up-to-date information regarding the status of their Park Day activities.

This annual event brings history enthusiasts together in an effort to help keep our nation’s heritage not only preserved, but pristine.

Since 1996, the American Battlefield Trust has sponsored Park Day, an annual hands-on preservation event to help Civil War — and now Revolutionary War & War of 1812 — battlefields and historic sites take on maintenance projects large and small. Activities are chosen by each participating site to meet their own particular needs and can range from raking leaves and hauling trash to painting signs and buildings trails.

Last year was one of our largest events ever with about 160 sites, nearly 7,000 volunteers, and about 25,000 donated man-hours. We’re already looking forward to Park Day 2020.
