“Rockets' Red Glare: Making History Relatable” is the theme for the 2021 National Teacher Institute in Baltimore, Maryland!
Our annual National Teacher Institute brings together educators from all over the world. This four-day event includes breakout sessions, workshops, lectures, and tours from some of the leading experts in the history and education fields.
Educators will be immersed in a friendly, fun, and engaging learning environment, where they will be able to network with other educators, learn more about the historical topics that they teach in their classroom while acquiring new and innovative teaching methods. Our National Teacher Institute is more than just methodology, it's about making you a better, more well-rounded educator. We hope that you will leave the Institute with a better understanding of your subject matter, a passion for history education, and lifelong friendships.
This event is free but does require a $100, refundable, deposit be placed to reserve your spot. At the conclusion of the event, educators can apply for a continuing education certificate, provided by the American Battlefield Trust.

- Full-time Museum professionals.
- Librarians.
- A limited number of adjunct and full-time college professors & administrators.

- For the special $109 per night rate, please make your reservation in our Sheraton Inner Harbor block of rooms. Click here to book your rooms, or call the hotel at (410) 962-8300, to make your reservations. Be sure to tell them you are with the American Battlefield Trust Teacher Institute to receive our discounted room rates. You must make your reservations on or before June 18, 2021, to receive the group rate of $109 per night. For those staying at the host hotel, we have a discounted self-parking rate of $10.00 per vehicle, per day.
Baltimore Area Airports
There are three (3) airports to choose from.
- Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is the closest airport (20-minute drive) to the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is about a one hour drive (without traffic) to the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel.
- Dulles International Airport (IAD) is a one hour and twenty-minute drive (without traffic) to the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel.
