The smell of campfires and the sound of marching feet will once again fill the air at the Sunken Road and Marye's Heights in Fredericksburg on Labor Day weekend. Reenactors will be on hand to show the weapons, uniforms, and equipments carried by soliders 157 years ago. Watch as troops march in formation and hear about the fighting techniques used by the armies during the Civil War. Visit the Caps to learn how the troops lived "in the field."
Musket firing demonstrations will occur at 11:00, 2:00 and 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday evening an interactive campfire program entitled A Sense of History" will begin at 7:30, examining the sights, sounds, smells and feel of Battle.
Parking is available at the Visitor's Center at 1013 Lafayette Boulevard. The programs are free to the public and are family friendly.
