American Battlefield Trust Event
June 29-July 7, 2019
Lee's Headquarters
401 Buford Avenue
Gettysburg, PA 17325

For only the third time since the Battle of Gettysburg was fought, cannons will be fired on the grounds of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s Headquarters during ceremonies commemorating the battle’s 156th anniversary.

The South Mt. State Park artillery crew representing Battery B, 4th US artillery will hold three firing demonstrations of a 12 lbs. Napoleon at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm on June 29 and 30. On July 6 and 7, at 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm,  Confederate reenactors will portray Virginia’s Rockbridge Artillery firing a 3-inch rifled cannon and a 10-pound Parrot rifle. In addition, the house on the Headquarters site will be open on those days and on July 1 - 3 from 10 am to 3 pm.

The house and grounds, which served as Gen. Lee’s command center during the Battle of Gettysburg, was preserved by the Trust in 2016 as part of a $6 million acquisition and restoration project. The grounds and interpretive trail are open from sunrise to sunset.
